Multiple Mercuries

John Street in the centre of Glasgow seems to be trying to turn into Mercury street. It has statues of mercury at the ends roof at both ends of the street on the west side and another one on the ground at the north end. Statues of Mercury have popped up before in this series because as the messenger of the gods and the god of eloquence, poetry, merchants, thieves and travellers. He makes a useful shorthand to hint what the carvings are though I doubt saying its about thieving occurs very often.
